This is my tumblelog, dedicated to a little man named Jude-who has made my life much more meaningful and a bit more complicated. This is a story of a first time mother and about all her favorite little things. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.
I have to say I don’t miss anything about having a newborn. We’ve reached 3 months and it’s better than ever. We have smiles, we have sleep ALL night, we have semi-giggles, and we have the same feeding routine every day. I can plan my days ahead of time! Gasp! Shoutout to Jude-he’s a great baby and also to the book Babywise that’s helped this new mother figure out a good routine.
Only downers right now…we need to sell our baby-unfriendly loft and get our dog some Xanax. Oh and I still have a flabby stomach. No thanks to Jude for that.

Used my Ergo Baby Carrier for the first time today. It’s amazing. Those baby bjorn type carriers hurt my back-this one is super comfortable for mom and baby. I put a fussy Jude in it and he immediately fell asleep as soon as he was latched in. I even walked my dog Rudy (not an easy task) while carrying the babe. A touch expensive, but definitely worth it.
I always wondered if it could happen. I’ve tried before to prevent it from happening. I neglected to prevent it this morning…
Jude peed on his FACE.

I forgot to get my Americano decaffeinated today. Thank you Urban Standard, you made it very strong and I was able to accomplish a lot on my caffeine high today while Jude was napping. Unfortunately, I had to pump & dump because I wanted Jude to sleep tonight. Watching Jude’s hard-earned milk go down the drain is difficult for me.
Jude continues to smile and coo when we whistle. Tonight on the way home from his great-grandmother’s house he started to have a fit. Jarrod and I whistled in unison and his crying turned into a whimper. We turned on Andrew Bird’s Noble Beast and whistled along to that and the crying and whimpering stopped immediately. As soon as we get home and turn off the music and stop whistling…the crying starts again.
Our little avian baby…
I did listen to Noble Beast a lot during my pregnancy…
He smiled at Daddy for the first time yesterday. He thinks whistling is funny. We have yet to capture a true smile on camera, but we will.

Thanks to my friend Carla for introducing me to Gripe Water. Baby Jude gets hiccups that frustrate him and keep him from falling asleep. This stuff is miraculous. Hiccups stop as soon as he swallows the stuff. Supposedly it helps with reflux, gas, and fussiness but I have yet to test it’s effectiveness for those things. Anyone had success with Gripe Water in those areas?

Check out www.alittlelark.com for cutest threads for tots I’ve found so far. A friend sent me this link and I thought I’d share it as well. When we have more dough in the bank, Jude will be getting some things from here.
